Essential Oils and Back Pain

Do You Need Relief From Pain?

Back Pain is very difficult to deal with, Hilichrisum, Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, Chamomile and osmanthus give relief. The Sciatic nerve is the longest and widest nerve in the human body. It runs from the lower back, through the buttocks, and down the legs, ending just below the knee. This nerve controls several muscles in the lower legs and allows that area to be sensitive to touch.  A friend of my friend Debbie was suffering from severe leg pains as well, often people suffering from Sciatica also suffer with pains down the Sciatic Nerve.

Debbie writes the following; "just this week I shared Deep Blue *a brand name of an oil from Doterra, with a lady who thought she was suffering with possible Sciatica." Now, Sciatica is a name given to any pain stemming from irritation of the sciatic nerve. Irritation of this nerve can cause many ranges of pain from mild to severe. Often, the term "sciatica" is confused with general back pain., and I don't know if this lady was experiencing Sciatica, or very severe back pain. But either way she came to the right person.

Debbie gave her Deep Blue from Doterra which contains the following ingredients: Wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, blue tansy, chamomile, helichrysum and osmanthus. These ingredients together ease achy joints and sore muscle. Helichrysum itself has the ability to alleviate pain on contact.  It contains cell regenerative properties as well due to the ketones, italidones, di-ketones and the sesquiterpenes-curcumenes.
Blue tansy is also a natural anti-inflammatory as is peppermint.  As you probably already know inflammation is the leading cause of much pain, though inflammation is often necessary for healing,  Neuroscientists at the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio found that inflammation actually helps to heal damaged muscle tissue.  Our infections, wounds and any damage to tissue would never health without inflammation - tissue would become more and more damaged. (you don;t move your back around a lot when it is hurting - and thus your body uses the time to repair) but conic inflammation causes the destructio of tissue, thickening and scaring of connective tissues (fibrosis and eventually death of cells and or tissues.  At this point anything able to reduce conic inflammation will usually reduce pain as well as help heal the injury, so long as you don't over do it again.
Wintergreen is 85-99% of methyl salicylate, an analgesic, the same as aspirin. (Some simply choose to use the chemically made compound of aspirin when we have a headache rather than use the god made thing.)  Wintergreen is also antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic.
Chamomile is a relaxing oil.  Relaxation is needed in order for repair cronic pain and dammaged tissue or cells.  When we are in pain we tend to tighten our muscles and in cronic situaltions this causes more damage, in this cas Chamomile helps combat the problem.
The effects of these particular oils in this combination, in case of cronic pain result in deep and penetrating  pain relief and comfort, and is often sustained very quickly. The long term effect however is what makes the difference, it reduces the inflammation of the area that is causing the real pain and thus is able to reduce the problem that is casing the Sciatica.
Debbie gave her A SAMPLE PACKET OF DEEP BLUE RUB a Doterra product. The very next morning this lady called and said to Debbie, "I THINK WE HAVE A WINNER!"

My Husband
My husband Chris suffers from Sciatica often as well.  He is a farmer, and has been for a long time.  He started farming at ten years old and never quit.  At 19 years old he paid the price and after suffering with a bulged disk did the only thing that he thought he could do and had surgery. So, part of his lower back has been fussed, this sometimes is a problem because other muscles tend to compensate for the lack of mobility in his lower back muscles.  He still farms, and sometimes his back will hurt. But he keeps the DEEP BLUE RUB on his side of the bed, always.  It has got him through some aches and pains. however, thank heavens, I can't remember the last time he stayed home with a bad back.  I'm glad we have the DEEP BLUE!

My Oldest Son
My son, who learned to work hard from his father, has had back problems as well.  His problems stem from a work related accident.  Sciatica surfaced with him as well.  He has one disk that is herniated and another just lower than that one that is partially herniated.  He is waiting to see if he can work out some natural things before turning to something as drastic as surgery.  Again DEEP BLUE to the rescue. At first we didn't use the rub, we didn't know about it - and we used the Deep Blue Oil - and if he ever feels really bad we revert back to the oils and a good massage, both the oil and the lotion have helped him immensely.  He and his wife are going camping this weekend - sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground -  I hope he remembered to pack it with him!

DEEP BLUE makes a difference.  It not only relives pain but it reduces inflammation   Up to 90% of patients suffering from a herniated disk can be treated without back surgery.  This is according to many medical, chiropractic and therapeutic professionals.  Ask one.

My son's and my husbands problems are both located in the lower disks of the lumbar (lower) spine region.  Symptoms that they experience may be sudden or gradually but usually include:

Pain in one or both legs
Burning, tingling (a “pins–and–needles” sensation), or numbness in the buttock, leg, or foot
Pain with specific movements, usually bending forward or twisting - (sometimes a slimple twist can bring on the pain.)
Intensified pain with prolonged sitting, bending, sneezing, or coughing
Weakness in one or both legs

Often, the symptoms of a herniated disc cab be resolve gradually with modification of activity, analgesic and anti-inflammatory products, such as oils, and physical therapy and exercises to strengthen muscles and re-teach muscles. Christopher is going to the chiropractor and we are using the DEEP BLUE and it is working, hence he feels good enough to sleep on the ground!
